Lodgepole Pine trees are those
tall, good-looking trees which have their foliage
near the top, which do not taper much, which
you see around Yellowstone park, and from which
they make telephone poles; although when Montana's
master log woodworkers get done sanding, polishing
and bringing out the individual character of
each log, they no longer look like telephone
poles!
Most logs. including ours, have
cracks extending from the center to the edge.
Master log woodworkers hand-select each log
for beauty and durability. All furniture is
guaranteed to last for at least one year.
No live trees are cut to make
this outstanding furniture. There are plenty
of dead ones standing around Montana, killed
by bark beetles. (Don't worry about those beetles
- they exit the trees immediately when the trees
die!) The beetles like to get in between the
bark and the wood and eat tracks in the soft
cambium layer, which carries nutrients and water
to the rest of the tree. If those random tracks
should go all the way around the tree (called
"girdling"), the rest of the tree is cut off
from the nutrients and the tree dies. By the
time the woodworkers get to the trees, the wood
has aged and is now a little harder than most
pine.
No assembly!
All sofas, chairs, tables, etc. come in one
piece. No assembly required!
Most beds come as headboard, footboard, and
pieces which go in between, to be fitted and,
where necessary, lag bolted (we supply) into
pre-drilled holes. Our Canopy Beds further separate
for assembly the tall corner posts (which, believe
us, you want!).
